Vika Lobatsevich is an animator and multidisciplinary artist with a big passion in drawing. Born and raised in Russia, she has studies in Kingston School of Art in the UK and took an exchange year in LASALLE College of the Arts in Singapore on BA (HONS) Animation Art programme.
Her work often takes mixed media approach incorporating traditional techniques like monoprinting, collaging, pencil drawing, weaving and ceramics with digital frame-by-frame animation and moving image.
Being influenced by observation, time, stories, international and intercultural experiences it opens a space for though often inviting the audience to connect with their own lives and inner voices. Vika treats art as a way of self-reflection and self-chronicle, a method of gounding and staying in-tune with yourself using film photography and daily sketching as one of the techniques.
Has been described as very loose and textured, her style captures a unique contrast of child whimsiness and serious tender topics, worlds of feeling and thought.
